Hello blog world! How I missed you so. It has been too long...I took the time off with the intention of exploring other avenues. One of the avenue I explored was
Facebook, and it became my venue for social media interaction. While I enjoyed exploring Facebook, it is not the same as blogging and I have come to the realization that they are both valid in their own right! This break is a sort of unplanned sabbatical from blogging. What have I done this past year? I have learned a lot and participated in many wonderful events. Here is a recap of my journey to get the year on a roll.

overview of the exhibit wall |
Started 2013 with the closing reception of my "A Visual Rythm" spotlight artist exhibit at
Riverside Community Arts Association. It was a great show and several pieces found new homes. A special thank you to
Mark Schooley,
RCAA director for his support.

"Site to Studio" was a great group show of
Plein Air Artist of Riverside members taking a painting done ala plein air and then create a bigger version in studio, I was honored to be included and had great reception at
Jacobs Gallery of Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation.

just love the use of citrus as part of the bouquet during the reception |
January also saw my participation in the "Let it Snow " exhibit at
SCA Gallery.
February, the month of love started with participation in Corona Arts Colony "You Got To Have Heart" Then onward to the celebrated black history month with "The Eight" exhibit at Baldwin Hill Crenshaw Plaza. This exhibit is part of the Pan African Film and Arts Festival!
|

Talk about giving back. I have always enjoyed this event and happy to participate because it is my way of giving back to the community! The Friends of RCCD Forensics benefited from the sale of the pieces donated by artists!

we were trilled to belly dancing at "Art on Victoria" |
After years of watching my friend
Jan Harvey become a master in solar printing, I took one of her workshop and finaly had a chance to utilized some of the photographs I have been taken over the years!
Oak Glen is a town known for its famous Apple pies and in April we set up booths with the
Yucaipa Vision Quest in Arts in the Wildlands and even made it into the local newspaper.
Fallbrook biggest annual event is the Avocado Festival. This year, I invited my friend
Veronica to share a booth with me and we had so much fun. She always light up the space with her conversations!
April brings may flowers as they say, first Olive market event of the year was April flower
|
friends and supporters Karen and Gwen showcasing their new acquisitions! |
and then May was loaded with my work being juried into the National Orange Show. Participation in "Treasures in Another Garden" and "Art In The Park".

Early summer was the second Olive market show, a trip up to Big Bear lake and big reception at yearly exhibit at Rejuvenate Chiropractic Spa. I will be remiss if I did not mention RCAA "Hot in the City" members show!
Fall is my busiest season of the year and last fall was probably my busiest thus far...
I started the seaon with two fundraising events. First an event titled "Evening of Elegance" a fundraising for "Kids Rock Free Combo Band Program"
|
these are priceless guitars signed by famous musicians |
The second fundraising event was
Mayor's Celebration for Arts and Innovation in Riverside for which I donated 2 pieces with 100% proceeds to the
Riverside Arts Council.
I have to tell you, there were two new juried show I applied and was accepted with the photo etching that I did in Jan's workshop. The first was California State Fair Art show. Not only was I accepted, I also won monetary award for Merits...woot woot!
For years, I always missed the boat applying for this southern California exhibit "Cal Poly Pomona Ink & Clay" and I made a promise this year that I will be on top of it and that I did. I applied and got in. I felt honored to be juried in since the exhbit went national and is now open to artists in the U.S. not just Southern California!

October started with the third Olive Market installment show and then followed by my best selling fall event
"Art, for Heaven's Sake" it is always an enjoyable show where artists reception is full of awesomeness!
Since the cessation of Artfest, I have been looking for another retreat to attend. I found "
The Call of the Wild Soul Women" which I attended in November in Petaluma. There were so much goodness, it deserves its own blog post, stay tuned! Here are some of the other fall events...
One of the biggest highlights of 2013 for me was my participation with five other artsts; Joanna Mersereau, Terry d. Chacon, Patricia Rose Ford, Dan Soury and Tim Colbert titled :Studio Tour 6. I was excited when we started the planning and as we got closer to the date, doubts crept in due to stress and other mind games. Even though it was a lot of work, it allowed me to showcase works that I have not shown before and have not been seen as a collective series. Open studio was well received and can't wait to start planning the next one. I received so many positive comments and even inspired few artists friends who came and started thinking about setting up their studio!!
