April's Creativity, Brings May Awards!

April was a busy month in the studio with getting ready for Redlands Festivals of Arts.  I was able to implement ideas I had sketched and toyed with while in Nigeria.  A series of Ancestral Beauty Masks along with "I Heart You" series were in full blown production.

With all these burst of creativity, the first event I entered was the Nation Orange Show (NOS) juried art exhibit.  I entered two pieces in the show, one in the citrus category and the other in open category.   Both were juried in and during the reception I discovered that my Citrus -Themed entry won "Purchased Award".  This will make it the second piece from me that is now in the permanent collection of the National Orange Show...Woo Hoo!
"Sunshine Glory" purchase award now in the "NOS" permanent collections
The winning  continues when I received a call that the piece I entered into The Arts Colony open call theme  "FIGURATIVE."  won an award.  I won fourth place in the "mixed media" category, thank you juror Leslie Brown.

By the weekend, I was all set up for The Redlands Festival of Arts and it was time for jurying.  The jurors awarded me "Honorable Mention" in the "2-D Wall Hanging".  Thank you jurors Sandra Rowe  and Leslie Brown.

I am very thankful for all the recognitions given to me.  These awards are very important to me because it solidify my being a "MULTI-MEDIA" artist! The "Purchase Award" was for "Sunshine Glory" a photo etching with utilization of solar plate.  The fourth place award for "Attitude" which is  a mixed media medium, while my Honorable Mentioned award was for my enamels. It was full circle awards!
